The Arthurian Legends have been some of the most adapted story lines for hundreds of years. Whether they are portrayed in poetry, plays, novels or movies, audiences never seem to tire of it.
1. Poetry: The Lady of Shalott is poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and is set on a mysterious island near the town of Camelot. We will study the poem and also write a commentary of 1000-1500 words. History of the Myths: We will watch a video concerning the historical perspective of Arthurian Legend.
3. Short Story: We will begin with learning about the code of chivalry through the adventures of Sir Lancelot in a short story by Henry Gilbert. Click here for the assignment and story. Due 21 April (hard copy)
4. Film: King Arthur is a film directed by Antwon Fuqua and shows a much darker picture of the tale of King Arthur. We will watch the film and then write an in-class timed essay comparing the short story, the poem, and the film.
